There are currently seven factions. I'll probably add more as I think of them or get suggestions.
1. The Witches
To switch things up a bit, instead of having clan leaders, each mod controls their own witch sibling. They are a very important part of Varatia's culture and history. Their magic is constantly shaping the land (not necessarily for the better), and their mother is seen as a sort of mythological figure, as she is elusive but is said to hold incredible power. The siblings often bicker with one another. Like their mother, they are all very powerful, but whether or not they are aware of the extent of their abilities is up to whoever is rping them.
Members: Wilvaren is currently the only sibling with a character.
Witches unrelated to the family: Uncate
2. The Soul Legion
Anyone remember them? The Soul Legion is in charge of capturing souls who are trapped in the physical world, as they haven't moved on to the afterlife for whatever reason. Their workers are known as Soul Guardians. When a soul is captured and brought before the Soul Legion's council, its past is thoroughly examined, and it will either be sent to heaven or the underworld. The council members are playing god, so to speak, and they are extremely controlling towards their workers, so they are actually quite corrupt.

3. The Rangers
This faction is full of Varatia's most adventurous and daring. They are in charge of exploring the land and mapping it out, and they act as guides for the other citizens so they know which paths are dangerous and which ones are safe. While most are explorers, others focus solely on researching Varatia's odd wildlife. No matter which area they specialize in, being a Ranger is a dangerous job, as they must often delve into the unknown.

4. The Aberrant
Members of this faction live within the innermost regions of Varatia. They have been affected by the witches' magic, and have been twisted by it as a result. Some are flat out beasts, while others have become very aggressive or developed strange and dangerous abilities. A handful of the Aberrant are reclusive and actively avoid others out of fear that they will hurt them - or be attacked themselves. They are the most shunned members of society.

5. The Reapers
There is plenty of speculation over the Reapers and their motives, and some don't consider their faction to be legitimate - but the group exists nonetheless. Reapers started out as hunters of dangerous creatures that threaten civilians, but have taken a liking to hunting down the Aberrant whether they stray too far out of their own territory or not. Because their job is so dangerous and requires a lot of strength and skill, many Reapers have overbearing egos, and they tend to be very competitive.

6. The Kindred
People in this faction prefer to live in a community, but they occasionally leave their home to explore.
Members: Materiae, Ashtorethi, Brea, Evilia, Copper, Ciph
7. The Outlanders
Outlanders are people who haven't chosen a faction for any reason, whether it's because they don't feel like they fit into any of them, they prefer to be independent, or if they don't plan on staying in Varatia.
Members: Ophelia, Alabaster, Bampires, Skip, Arlexie, Astra, Saiph
