Here it is! eue Minus little landmarks like villages and caves and such.
The lighter paths going deeper into the woods/closer to Ravenweld are officially explored paths. Some are cut off abruptly because uhhh. The deep woods are not a place you want to go unprepared, and let's just say those unfortunate explorers were pretty unprepared. So, basically, the more darkly shaded areas are completely unknown territory. The weird darkness spreading out of Deep Embrum is the magic slowly creeping towards the coast. There were a lot more safe areas a few years back.
The magic begins to fade much farther south since it's mostly centered on Ravenweld, but no one knows what's down there yet. Getting to the southern coast could be a potential plotline, I guess? ouo
Moving the locations here so it's more organized haha
Sanguine Valley: This lush valley is at the foothills of a mountain range called Heaven's Gate, and is located at the very edge of Varatia. Because of this, the place is normal for the most part, and is a popular place to form a community, as it is extremely safe. The only strange thing that happens here is the way the sky turns red at dawn and dusk.
Heaven's Gate: This mountain range is considered one of the safest parts of Varatia. Some of the mountains are totally forested, while others are covered by snow and ice. Some of the peaks reach so high, some say they touch the stars themselves - hence the name.
Lumerine Glade: This glade is constantly emitting strange magic that wards off potential threats. It's a beautiful place, with large, glowing mushrooms, towering silver trees with white leaves, and crystal clear waters; but once you enter, it's difficult to escape. It's a natural maze, and to make things worse, random illusions can make you lose your sense of direction. Many have died here, and they have yet to be found.
Ravenweld Manor: No one is certain who built this manor, but it is very old and decrepit. Wilvaren found it and has been living in it for a long while, but it's almost in the same shape as it was found in, despite Azigrel's attempts to patch it up. The manor is located at the heart of Varatia, but Wilvaren put up barriers so dangerous creatures can't get inside. The constant stream of magic doesn't help with the area's badly warped state.
The Abysmal Plain: This rocky canyon is largely inhospitable. The place is bone-dry, toxic fumes constantly ooze from several pits in the ground, and there are some of the ravines are so deep it's impossible to see where they end. Large flying beasts roam the skies, in desperate need of prey. Regardless of these things, daring explorers come here to test their mettle and survival skills.
The Black Spot: This area is surrounded by a black mist, and sunlight cannot break through the thick forest canopy. No one knows what terrible things exist here. Going inside is likely a death sentence, but nobody is willing enough to find out what's really hidden inside the inky blackness.
Embrum Woods: This is a large, fairly normal stretch of woods that many Varatians casually wander. Things become mildly strange as you go deeper into this part of the forest, as the effects of the witches' magic have been spreading here as of late. In some places, the grass fades from green to blue and lavender, and plants have developed odd yet beautiful mutations. Certain animals are either too big or too small. A couple of common sights are the horse-sized, mint green rabbits, and tiny eagles not much bigger than hummingbirds.
